The Mirror Tells no Lies

The Mirror Tells no Lies

Did you know that everything you see in others, yes, the good, the bad, and the ugly, is simply a mirror reflection of yourself? For you to be able to recognize a weakness, or see strength in others means that you have to have at least a trace of it in yourself.  Otherwise, how could you then recognize it in others?  If you want to have successful relationships then you have to take responsibility and ownership for your own thoughts and feelings, this is the key to building inner strength and emotional stability.

At first you may be shocked by the thought that that person who drives you crazy or causes you pain is mirroring back something within you!  However, if you truly understand this deep spiritual point, then it can set you free from creating the habit of complaining, blaming and comparing. This firmly puts the ball back in your court. You can no longer play the victim – you need to stand up and take responsibility for what and who you are – it is always easier to point the finger at others. This is a real step towards freedom and self-mastery.

Just as a mirror tells no lies, so ‘our judgement’ and especially criticism of other people is most interesting, because remember – ‘the mirror tells no lies’. The fact that you can recognize ego in others, means that, sorry folks no doubt about it, you must have it in yourself. The fact that you recognize kindness and generosity in another means you too must have applied those very same qualities. At some point in time you have been guilty of the same deeds that you now find yourself condemning.

Every time you find yourself commenting on the actions of others, it would serve you well to take a moment for reflection to check your own actions. And here is another very beautiful point of learning: as you begin to correct yourself, you will see that others begin to change and mirror back the very same correction. If you get irritated and aggressive others will also. However, if you show humility in a situation, most likely others will start to show humility too. Although you may need to be patient before seeing the results!

You have to be willing to recognize your own shortcomings.  If you really wish to build up your inner power, then you will see the mirror as a gift that allows you to see yourself and take the necessary steps towards positive change. It takes a great soul to initiate a great act… to forgive… to step back… and give others a chance… to maintain silence instead of shouting back… this new behaviour takes time but also brings great rewards.

Just as a mirror can magnify a light, so too you can light up the life of others by shining brightly yourself.  When you choose to see the best in them, by accentuating the positive and seeing the beauty in each soul then your light also shines. By allowing others to see their own truth, beauty and magnificence, then you mirror back to them their pure potential. This is perhaps the greatest service you can do for others because therein lies the healing for each and every soul, to be able to really see the essential goodness that is in each one of us.

When your mirror is dirty you cannot even see the beauty that is right in front of your eyes. What is obscuring your vision? It is the dirt of your own negative vision and attitude that creates waste thoughts and feelings. Negative attitudes and beliefs can only cloud your vision. Release them.

It’s time… to accept that ‘the mirror tells no lies’.  Remember that the method for your own salvation from old patterns of thinking and finger pointing, the blaming others and everything that goes with it is to simply begin with some small change in your life. Begin by polishing your own mirror, and then reflect out only goodness and without a doubt only goodness can shine back to you.

‘It’s Time…’
